Bristol’s Week of Harvest Celebrations - planning meeting

Join Transition Bristol to plan a Week of Harvest Celebrations around Bristol to celebrate Bristol’s abundance of local food at harvest time and to raise awareness of the need to re-localise our food and the havoc our current globalized food system is wreaking on the health and wellbeing of our communities and the environment.

Sessions will start with an outline on what’s happening to transform food in Bristol, leading to open space sessions to brainstorm and plan a range of harvest events across the city. The daytime meeting is aimed at those attending as part of their work and the evening meeting is aimed at those involved in a volunteer/grassroots capacity, although all are welcome to whichever meeting is most convenient.

Bristol’s Week of Harvest Celebrations will take place in October to coincide with World Food Day on 16 October and National Apple Day on 21 October - and we would love to see as many Bristol communities and organisations involved as possible. The week of action builds on ‘Berries ‘n Beans: Bristol’s Week of Seasonal Food Celebrations - some 15 events that took place earlier this month, in solidarity with communities across the world, whilst world leaders were meeting in Rome to discuss world food security.

Join a Trinidadian dance troupe to save the bees! A group will be dressing as bees and flowers and dancing Soca - a Trinidadian carnival dance - to raise awareness about the plight of the UK’s bees.

Get involved!

Learn Soca dancing and join the dance troupe
