Monday 4th February Mark Sinfield (guitar) and Bill Dale (saxes) are the ‘Cousin Mary Duo’.
Long-standing duo Mark Sinfield and Bill Dale have played in and around Bristol for many years as part of the Cousin Mary Jazz Quartet. They will play and improvise on a varied programme which will include tunes by Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Lee Konitz and Kenny Wheeler, among others. Expect warm and mellow jazz.
Monday 11th February, Dan Curtis and Laura Coyne: The Great American Song Book
Daniel and Laura Curtis are considered amongst the foremost ambassadors for the preservation of the music of the Great American Songbook in the United Kingdom. Their concert repertoire includes the works of composers such as Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart/Hammerstein and Cole Porter. Daniel and Laura were recently invited onto the BBC One Show alongside the legendary Tony Bennett and have gained further support for their preservation work from Nancy Sinatra. They were also asked to perform a concert for Debbie Reynolds at the British Film Institute. Previous performances have included Trafalgar Square as part of West End Live 2011 and 2012, BBC Proms, BAFTA Awards and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Monday 18th February Gordon Pullin tenor, Clare Griffel contralto, Christopher Manners piano, a marking of Benjamin Britten’s centenary
Gordon, an exemplary and suave professional who leads the Bristol Chamber Choir which performs regularly at Saint Stephen’s is noted almost as much for his witty and erudite introductions as his lovely tenor voice. Ably matched by his colleagues expect an outstanding tribute to the 20th century’s greatest British composer. Monday 25th February Mathew Sears A celebration of British guitar and lute music
