A Bristol charity is asking the world to have a curry in support of clean,
water projects in developing countries.
FRANK Water funds clean water projects in India and other developing
countries, and has announced Karma Korma as its first fundraising
campaign for 2013.
Karma Korma takes place on World Water Day on Friday 22nd March 2013.
In partnership with The Bart Ingredients Company, Bristol’s best known
producer of herbs and spices and supported by award-winning restaurant
chain, the Thali Cafe, the campaign will encourage people to enjoy a curry
with friends or colleagues and raise money for safe drinking water
projects at the same time.
Those taking part get a pack of authentic Korma spices and an easy
recipe, donated by Bart, plus some simple fundraising tips.
Supporters can host their own Karma Korma event on Friday, March 22nd
and ask each guest to make a donation to FRANK Water though an online
donation page or by texting FWKK£10. Suggested donation is £10 per
person – the same price as a takeaway curry.
if you don’t fancy slaving over a hot stove but want to get involved, then
have dinner or treat yourself to a takeaway from the Thali Café, Karma
Korma’s official restaurant partner. The award-winning restaurant chain
has pledged to donate £1 to FRANK Water for every customer that comes
through the door of each of their four restaurants on 22nd March.
Founder of FRANK Water, Katie Alcott said “We know how challenging
fundraising can be which is why Karma Korma is such a great solution.
Inviting your friends over for curry is a fun, easy way to support our cause
for clean, safe water across the world.”
Camilla Bond, Head of Marketing at Bart said “When we learnt about
Frank Water’s exciting idea we couldn’t wait to support the fantastic work
they do providing safe, clean water in developing countries. With 50 years
of history of supplying over 350 different herbs, spices and blends we felt
we could develop an authentic and flavourful Korma recipe”.
Established in 2005 by award-winning social entrepreneur Katie Alcott,
FRANK Water has funded 88 safe water projects to date. Karma Korma is
the first in a series of campaigns that will help FRANK Water reach 200
projects by the end of 2013.
