River Avon ‘Beach’ opens!
Bristol’s very own beach opens on Saturday 21st July, with the Redcliffe Community Beach Party. We’d love you to come and join us- and bring your friends, family and neighbours too.
The event is free, runs from noon until sunset and includes sandcastle competitions, Arabian dancing, drumming workshops, kids activities, live music, a tropical DJ and tasty beach treats from Pieminister and Bordeaux Quay.
The Beach is at Redcliffe Wharf and will be open from 8am to sunset every day until September. Don’t forget your sunscreen. Bermuda shorts and knotted handkerchiefs are optional.
See you on the Beach- we are “cutting the ribbon” at noon.
a few little things…
andykisaragi
Just a few things I thought deserved a mention on here, but didn’t want to write a whole separate entry about each one…
People’s Republic of Stokes Croft
Maybe everyone knows about this already and I’m massively behind the times, but you know all the great arty / grafitti stuff that’s been going up on Stokes Croft, around Turbo Island and the Jamaica Street studios..? Well I didn’t realise but it’s all part of a massive (in ambition) geurilla art project all around the area. They’ve got big plans, so if you’re an artist and fancy prettying up the place a little, check out their site.
Zero Carbon Britain
This is a report put together by people from CAT, where I’m studying, on how Britain can reduce it’s carbon emissions to zero, relying upon it’s own resources, by 2027. The website is here and will have the full downloadable report on there in the next few days (or you can order a hardcopy if you like. Apparently they’re very pretty. You materialistic swine.) It’s been getting a fair bit of press, eg in the Guardian, and they’re off to the House of Commons to present it later this month. I’m not usually one for top down, government policy approaches to things, but if anyone can come up with a good government policy it’s these guys. Whether they’ll be paid any attention is another matter, but spread the word, the more we talk about this stuff, the more they have to listen…

Mulambo… 15th june
andykisaragi
After the success of their Mulambo night last December, James and Clare are doing it again on the 15th of June. It’s on a bit more of a psychedelic theme this time and has expanded into the second room at the trinity for a chillout / chai shop / multimedia space.

eat static and banco de gaia should need no introduction… fromem ory is a rising star of fullon psytrance making his first visit to bristol and andykisaragi is of course me, and i rock. It’s a great line up and should make for a great night, and rest assured the chillout lineup, still being finalised, will be just as special.
Also, it’s all for charity! So no excuses, get yourself to Bristol Ticket Shop now…
Wanted-Suitable Wedding Location Field
Hello BBB
we are looking for a suitable field for our wedding which we hope to arrange for early September
this year. We are struggling to find a place and tonight we suddenly
realised we hadn’t tried hard enough!
The main obstacle we are currently facing is that we want to be able
to make a bit of noise all night long without worrying about being
told to shut up. The plan is to have a weekend camping from sat
afternoon till monday morning with bands and live stuff on sat
afternoon/evening then djs till the bitter end - just loud enough to
keep people interested - this is NOT a free party! also because we
will pay good money for the right field. Particularly if it has
toilets.
We have everything else in hand apart from a suitable field. Any
ideas, no matter how small, unlikely or stupid are very much welcomed.
Thank you!!!!

Bristol Community Radio - Get involved!
andykisaragi
Bristol Community fm have recently been awarded Brisol’s first community radio broadcast licence. They are scheduled to start broadcasting in April, and now is the time to get involved. There’s 2 meetings this week - unfortunately the first one is firmly in the past (Tuesday evening) but I only found out about them last night so not much we can do about that… Anyway the next meeting is tomorrow (Friday 19th January) at the Beacon Centre, Russell Town Avenue, Lawrence Hill (entrance at end of car park to City Academy). It’s for anyone who’d like to get involved in any way - presenting, interviewing, reasearching, writing, producing, engineering, etc etc. If you can’t make it to the meeting get in touch via the website.
