Perhaps they are old, in need of repair or simply collecting dust in your shed?

We are looking for adult bicycles to give to refugees that have been forced to leave their native countries as a result of conflict and the threat of possible persecution.

James, a volunteer who had this idea says “I volunteer at the Bristol Refugee Rights Drop-in Centre in Easton teaching English and am aware that many of our service-users walk between one to two hours in order to reach us, as they do not have private vehicles and are unable to afford public transport. By having a bicycle, they will have a greater freedom to get to and from the drop-in centre as well as elsewhere within the city and it will undoubtedly bring with it more independence and an improved quality of life. Many of our service-users have expressed a huge interest in having access to a bicycle and any of your old bicycles would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me to arrange the collection of any bicycles. I will then carry out any repairs and organise the donations of the bicycles.”

phone James on 0775 3616534 or email lucas@leavelandforwater.com

It’s great to see James and Bristol doing their bit to help refugees in such a lovely way – great work.
